Founded in 1983, Stolar Horizon is a company specializing in state-of-the-art radio geophysics. Stolar is responsible for the development and prototype manufacturing of a family of proprietary products that use electromagnetic radio waves in various applications pertaining to coal mining and the extraction of oil and gas. Stolar holds more than 40 patents relevant to this specialized technology.
Stolar’s major markets are the coal mining and energy industries. While the company’s product offering is broad and customer base diverse, Stolar’s customers use products to solve a similar problem – seeing what cannot be seen. May it be a water-filled abandoned mine shaft or the boundary of a coal seem, or even a coal miner trapped by a mine explosion.
Stolar Horizon’s products and services are based on two core technologies: The electromagnetic detection and imaging transceiver (EDIT) and the radio imaging method (RIM). EDIT functions at high frequency, ‘seeing’ closer to the earth’s surface– from 0 to 10 feet. RIM operates at low to medium frequency, ‘seeing’ deeper below the surface – from 10 to 2,000 feet. From these two technologies, Stolar has developed a family of products and services that are applicable in both coal mining, and the extraction of oil and gas.
